Stealing Your Gaze

Stealing Your Gaze (SYG) is a 35-second motion-first media artwork created for an 18-meter-long, large-scale LED screen.

The work distills the studio’s aesthetics and identity into a poetic exploration of the gaze—its emergence, expansion, and dissolution—across four cinematic scenes. Beginning with the curves and negative space formed by traditional Korean roof eaves, the journey moves through a geometric stage inspired by Barkow Leibinger’s Fidelio, a spacetime-inspired wormhole, and an expansive landscape populated by cube-based architectural forms.

A recurring circular motif—at once sun, white void, and window—guides the viewer’s eye, while symbolic objects such as roof tiles, dancheong patterns, and bokjumeoni pouches merge Korean tradition with pkpp’s distinct visual language. Animated by light, they are reborn in new forms, embodying the studio’s vision: a bold visual expansion from Korean roots toward a global stage.


시선을 훔치다

《시선을 훔치다》는 약 18미터 길이의 대형 LED 스크린을 위한 모션그래픽 작품입니다.
pkpp의 미학과 정체성을 응축한 이 작업은, ‘시선’이라는 시적 모티프를 중심으로 정체성, 주목, 감각의 전환을 탐색합니다. 시선이 등장하고, 확장되며, 소멸되는 유기적 흐름 속에서 상징적 오브제들이 재해석되어 새로운 시각적 여정을 이끕니다.

작품은 ‘시선은 ___하다’라는 테마 아래 네 개의 장면으로 구성됩니다. 한국 전통 기와 처마가 그려내는 곡선과 여백에서 시작해, Barkow Leibinger의 Fidelio 연극 무대에서 착안한 기하학적 구조의 공간으로 이어집니다. 이후 웜홀 공간에서 시선의 수렴과 분산을 경험하며, 마지막에는 광활한 자연 속 큐브 오브제들이 만드는 전시 공간으로 도달합니다.

전체 장면을 관통하는 둥근 원형의 모티프는, 태양, 화이트홀, 창의 형상을 넘나들며 시선을 유도합니다. 함께 등장하는 오브제들은 기와, 단청, 복주머니 등 한국 전통 요소와 스튜디오 고유의 미학을 담아낸 상징적 오브제들로, 빛을 통해 생명력을 얻고 스튜디오의 시선 안에서 새로운 형태로 다시 태어납니다.

이 작업은 pkpp가 출발한 도시 서울의 정서적 기반과, 첫 공개 무대인 2025 KOOM Festival (UKF 주최)의 맥락을 함께 담고 있습니다. 《시선을 훔치다》는 한국적 정체성을 바탕으로 세계를 향한 시각적 확장을 시도하는 pkpp의 첫 공식 데뷔이자 선언적 작업입니다.
